Yes, Personal Chefs are Still Valued (Needed)!

Life of most people nowadays seems to be getting busier and busier. People seemingly tend to have an ever-increasing number of responsibilities. Kids, career, a part-time job, entertainment, pets, and traveling usually rip a person off from all the free time. As a result of this, many people are not able to cook food for themselves.

Well, hiring a person to cook on a regular basis is quite similar to hiring a person to look after the hose or to take the dog out for a walk, or perhaps a person for babysitting a baby. Hence, the services of a personal cook aren’t something that only the incredibly wealthy people can enjoy.

Most people do not hire personal chefs because they want to show their money off. They hire them because it solves a huge problem for them i.e. dinner ready on the table as soon as they get back.

Normally, personal chefs tend to prepare customized meals in bulk for a number of clients, all in advance. These meals are then packaged, ready to be eaten after a round in the microwave.

So it would be right to say that personal chefs are still relevant in the 21st century because they tend to make the life of a busy person much easier. Simply imagine getting home, and not having to worry about preparing dinner. Instead, you see it packaged and stored in the refrigerator, ready to be popped into a microwave. Or better yet, served fresh on the dinner table.

Most chefs tend to charge their clients a flat fixed price, while some prefer to be paid on an hourly basis. Normally, most personal chefs will also do the necessary grocery shopping and the cleanup followed by cooking. After all, you cannot expect yourself investing time in groceries and clean up if you are not willing to put it into cooking after all. Usually, the total cost for a single meal goes in between $15 – $20 per person. However, this also varies depending on the type of food that is prepared and other costs that have to be covered. It would not be wrong to say that it is somewhat similar to having a meal in a restaurant, except for the fact that it is quite hygienic and you get it prepared within the comfort of your house.

It is estimated that about 5000 personal chef businesses currently operate in the United States. This number has risen from 1500 about a decade back. In fact, the personal chef industry generates a revenue of $300 million every year. Over the next five years, this is expected to become double.

In general, the people who hire personal chefs include couples earning dual incomes, career-focused people, busy people, people with disabilities, senior citizens with limitations, and almost everyone who prefers to pay to get their food prepared.

So in short, personal chefs have always remained relevant and will continue to do so. In fact, the industry is expected to grow as the popularity of this service giving rise to a greater supply and demand.
